Laundry Day

Sorting the kids' laundry baskets is always an adventure. I did a laundry post almost two years ago about the time that there was an unknown donor's underwear (toddler size 2) in the laundry. That was kinda spooky but there is usually mystery jackets or shirts in there. Let me share what I found in the girls' basket this morning:

One boot
One strapless dress that hasn't been worn since last summer
One fancy skirt (dry clean only)
One Laura Ingalls costume (that hasn't been worn since Halloween)
A pair of formal satin gloves that I wore in a wedding ten years ago
An empty beach bag
A shirt (still folded neatly from last week's laundry)
One baseball sock
A baby hat that my daughter wore when she was one

And there was more that I didn't even mention. As an added bonus, almost half of the items in their basket were clean. And as I pulled each item out, my daughters would invariably say, "I don't know how that got in there." Hmmm. It seems someone has been sneaking into our home and putting items in the girls' laundry that don't belong there. Should I be worried? Or should I choose to view doing the laundry every week as an adventure? I'm sure it will be boring when the kid's don't live here anymore.

Sometimes boring is a good thing.

That's what you get for telling your kiddos to "pick up their rooms" dontchya know!

"Clean" and "dirty" are quite foreign concepts to both men and children.

I am so relating to this. Last night I found in the dirty laundry a sweatshirt that I had just sent cleaned and folded to be put away a mere 3 hours earlier. That's just crazy!

Not to mention the other things you found:
-one bathing suit
-one pair of summer capris
-a light sweater
-one....
...Oh wait, that's my cruise packing list. Sorry, head out of the clouds. :D
Blessings,

Glad it's not just me!!! I find the same American girl doll outfit in there every week along with other assorted clothes that haven't been worn since summer, clean clothes, and like you, parts of halloween costumes, etc...
It makes me CRAZY! But you're right,it will be sad one day when we don't have random things in the laundry...

Some interesting finds you have there.

The worst is to find a diaper or pull up AFTER it has already been through the wash.

I think I may have used the strapless dress--my bad. :)

Yes! Alec used to put almost a full laundry basket of clean, folded clothes into the hamper! It would drive me crazy because I just couldn't tell him to put it all away. His clean clothes were in there with all the dirty socks and underwear and muddy clothes and I'd have to rewash it all! (Call me all kinds of disorders, but that's the way I am....)

Anyway-I thought it was just boys who did stuff like this. :-)

Are you sure you weren't doing my laundry by mistake? Seriously...that is weird. I could have named almost all of those items found in MY laundry hamper!

LOL @ BD's comment!!!

Okay, so I am SO glad that you posted this one. Sounds like our ghost, "I don't know", has been visiting your house too - or it could be our other ghost, "Not Me" ;)

You can't even imagine my laundry, lol. I have FOUR boys. Not that the girls aren't bad, but the boys.....
I have found costumes from church for skits my kids weren't even in. there is a bar of Lava soap in the laundry right now. Shoes, dishes, books, toys, and even a nasty spider. But the spider wasn't because of the kids. That was just a bonus. For me. The Arachnophobic one.
This week I even found a Wii remote in there.
It is always an adventure. One day life will be easy, but boring. Or I will have tons of grandkids who throw things down the laundry chute for me.

I've been on to the kids lately about how much "Not Me" is going to be in trouble for all that he/she is doing around our house - ESPECIALLY putting clean clothes in the laundry! You're much more patient than me. I'm afraid I got a little nasty with my kids about this one!
