OK, so we had company over for lunch after church yesterday. I made our favorite crock-pot chili. There's just one LITTLE problem. I mistook the cayenne pepper for chili powder. There were fumes coming off it by the time I was done. But bless their hearts, 3 out of the five guests ate it. The soul of politeness still lives!
Anyway, I felt better when later, a friend told BD and I she once mistook cumin for cinnamon when she was making cinnamon pancakes, and that her family actually ate cumin-spiked "mexican" pancakes. But then BD chimes in with how I filled the pepper grinder with all-spice corns one time. But he redeemed himself by saying that he discovered some new, interesting combinations, and that now he LIKES all-spice on his eggs. Funny, I've never seen him actually PUT all-spice on them voluntarily. Bless his heart, after 16 years of marriage, he's starting to know what to say in situations like that! I've almost got him trained to say, "You're the HOT one!" whenever the word hot comes up in conversation. He had lots of opportunities to practice when I served that chili yesterday.

aww good hubz!!
Haha!
Fun stories...that's not too bad. I don't have too many good cooking stories...yet. :)
Maybe I'll explode a crockpot or two when I'm a newlywed, to add a little "excitement" to our lives.
Which reminds me: my kitchen excitement did once include flaming pecans. Yes, dramatic, flame-throwing pecans that filled the house with a cloud of smoke. Yikes!
At least nobody had to eat them.
:)
It was nice seeing you last night! I'm sorry I didn't get to chat with you as much as I would have liked. Hope you had fun!
Alex
Oh my!!!! That is something I would do!!!!
Good ole hubby! He's a keeper!
Those husbands....they can be downright handy sometimes. Cooking blunders are my middle name and incidentally something I'm especially sensitive about. Because of this, I try not venture out much....sadly, my family eats lots of convenience foods. I made "no-fail fudge" over the holidays....it failed! So...when mom cooks they wonder if it's Sonic or Mickey D's. I may be exaggerating a bit....
Thanks for your thoughts on my weight loss issues. I appreciate it so much!!
LOL! How funny! What great friends you have...hope you provided lots of water ;)
So you know I don't cook but it reminds me of the time when Sugar had a similar mistake with our Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo. You can read that story here, if you would like ;)

Take care, my friend. And be careful with those spices HOT momma ;)
oopes.. LOL.. i could so see myself doing that.
LOL! I love that about you. You have the ability to just go with a situation. I would have been all embarrassed and ackward and down on myself. I need to take a lesson from my dear sister-friend and just learn to laugh. And Mr. Doofus gets bonus points for his attempted cover. Glad you enjoyed the fellowship regardless.
Blessings,
~Toni~
What a good hubby. I think I could have handled the chili better than those pancakes.
Hi Sniz! It's been forever since I checked in, but life's just handed us an era in need of dedicated concentration right now. I miss you and all my blogger buddies, but I wanted to come say "Hi" for the New Year. And don't feel bad, I've done the exact same cinnamon thing, except I put the cumin in homemade apple sauce. I was so mad b/c I never try from-scratch home cooking like that, and then of course when I FINALLY did.......
You make everything funner. Even if it's not for you at that time!
Too funny!!! I'm looking forward to cooking crazy things too!
Good to see ya lately! Glad you're around! :)
Ever try sweet potato pancakes? Just add the pulp from some baked sweet potatoes whisked into the batter for a very tasty, sweet pancake.
