Buckeye Bonanza Bash

this be my ma and pa.

so as it ain't surprising that BD and I got hitched.

we ain't that smrt. we need hlp. Please send money!

OK, OK, I'm just kidding. We ARE smart! At least that's what we tell our friends.

Seriously, let me tell you about the Burns Buckeye Bonanza, my mom's brainchild.

It started six years ago when the tree behind my parents new home dropped an amazing amount of buckeyes in the fall. So Mom (tradition starter extrodinaire!) created a celebration that included food that started with "B", the Buckeye Toss (a way to get rid of all those pesky buckeyes by throwing them at empty cans), and the Buckeye Guess where we guessed how many buckeyes were in the bucket (over 1000 that my mom counted out on her own each year).

Over the years, the Buckeye Bonanza has grown more and more elaborate with customized competitions, gifts, and prizes. Then my sis-in-law Leah (or Snizzle-Sis) got involved...

(Pictured here with my brother)

...and it got even more elaborate (and fun).

This year, Leah's mom...

...was visiting from LA and SHE LOVES this kind of thing so guess what? This year's bash was THE BOMB-DIGGETY.

So without further ado, here's some pictures from our sixth annual celebration at my brother and sister-in-law's house. In the words of my kids, it was, "...as much fun as Christmas!".

Peanut butter and chocolate buckeyes.

Birthday Boy Bronco cake. (It was my nephew's first birthday).

Buckeye Toss.

Buried Treasure Hunt.

Bubble blowing Contest.

Bad Teeth Bash.

Birthday Boy.

Bye-bye, ya'll!!!

Wish my family was that exciting! Looks so fun. We don't do anything quite that amazing. And though I live in Texas, chocolate peanut butter buckeyes are amazingly delicious.

Oh. My. Goodness. I am laughing soooo hard that I think I need to fall off this chair. These pics totally TOTALLY cracked me up. I especially liked the photo of Leah as a bubble chompin' tattoo mama and the one of you, T and Leah with your "best smiles" on (took me several moments to even realize it was T). Y'all are sooo awesome.
Blessings,
~Toni~

That looked like a blast!!!! One of our neighbors has a hillbilly party every year where we wear stuff like that...you menu is making my mouth water...and those peanut butter/choc buckeyes make me want to go eat a reese's right now!

I just popped over to wish you a happy birthday!!! The Big 4-oh if I'm not mistaken! It really isn't that bad because 50 is the new 30 so you are technically 20 ;)
Enjoy your day!

Now that is MY kinda party! Judging by all the...um...intelligent expressions I be thinkin' that you and I must be related. I swear y'all looked like you could have come from one of my family reunions back in TX! I got me a little white trash in my blood, oh yes I do!

If you charged admission you might be able to start some sort of dental fund. The winner of the guessing game could get a free trip to the dentist. Just a thought.

Seriously, that looks like a ton of fun!
